Canvas Overview
Canvas Dashboard
When you open your Canvas Observer Account you will be in the Dashboard.
The boxes in the center take you into your child's courses. Inside the course you can see homework, discussions, quizzes, and announcements made by the teacher as well as your child's scores on coursework and any feedback written by the teacher. Note: PowerSchool is the official gradebook. Scores in Canvas are not official grades as they are not all transferred to PowerSchool. |
Canvas Course Menu
When you click on one of the courses in the Dashboard you will be taken into that course.
On the left side of the screen a second menu will appear with menu options for the course you are inside.
Note: Teachers can set the menu according to what students need to see for the class. Thus, there will be some differences between course menus.
When you click on Assignments you will see a list of assignments provided by the teacher. Assignments are items that require action from the student so it is important to look at what information the teacher has posted about the assignment as there is an expectation that students will complete the work within an assignment.
